Over 1000 less priviledged kids smile as Ooni Of Ife hosts them in Lagos

His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has once again demonstrated His commitment to put smiles on the faces of less privileged children in the society as he organised Christmas party for over 1000 of them in Lagos.

The monarch through his Pet project, Hopes Alive Initiatives, HAI, which commenced operation in December 2017 as a social Advocacy Platform to alleviate the economic, cultural and environmental challenges of reducing the impact on the global society has put smiles on the faces of many indigent children nationwide in this year alone.

It would be recalled that Ooni recently visited the largest Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in Wassa, Abuja which hosts over 5,000 persons where he donated drugs and erected football pitch to promote social activities among the refugees displaced by Boko Haram insurgencies.

This was shortly after he donated a vocational centre to some rehabilitated children and adults in Umuahia, Abia State barely two weeks after His donation of a new home to an orphanage in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Speaking at the Christmas programme which had over 1000 children present, the Deputy Convener and Chief Executive of HAI, Princess Temitope Adesegun said it's the role of the initiative to put permanent smiles on the faces of these set of people especially at this season of love.

"That is what we stand for, that is what gives His Imperial Majesty joy, to give them a new beginning, a sense of belonging, not temporarily but a long lasting memory that will change their entire sense of bearing, that will change their orientation, that will change their true essence and they will believe indeed and in truth they can actually live a well and beautiful life.

Saying in the one year of existence of the initiative they have done incredibly well, stressing the organisation's visit to the IDP camp in Abuja, orphanage homes and several other programmes within the year.

"I can site an example here and that was when we went to Oluwakemi Orphanage Home. She practically had her kids in a slum and so what we did was to give them a new begining.

"We relocated them from that slum to a new well furnished and equipped apartment and with this we put a permanent smile on their faces and all the days of their lives they will remember what God and His Imperial Majesty has done for them," she disclosed.

Thanking the convener, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Adesegun said it is overwhelming what the convener is doing because "for someone to be selfless that all what he thinks of is to make people happy.

"Its indeed a huge sacrifice, the Great Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye, Ojaja the second, I salute you and I say thank you so much for your tremendous love, its unique, the kind of love you have is liken to the love of God for the church and God will continue to bless you.

On feedback in the last one year, the Deputy Covener said people they have supported are doing well and calling to say they love the convener and "of course we have people supporting him and that is why we are calling on corporate bodies and individuals to support us.

"The reason why God created you as privileged person is not just for you to relax and be excited, but its for you to be impactful, its for you to bless people out there," she urged.

On message for the season, she said the season is all about love and there is no way you can love anyone without given because " the Bible says for God so love the world that he "gave" us His beloved son so we should extend our hand of love to fellow human."

The Head Operations of the organisation, Mr. Chidi Amos explained that the ultimate aim of Hopes Alive Initiative was to give hope to the hopeless and of course we support good intention most especially ones that has to do with children.

The cross section of the children at the fanfare thanked the organisation for organising the programme especially during this season of love.

PRINCE CHUKWUEMEKA OKOLIE WINS YOUTH PARTY'S HOUSE OF REPS' PRIMARY FOR SURULERE

Prince Chukwuemeka Okolie has won his primary election under the Youth Party platform. He was elected by the Surulere people to represent them at the Federal House of representatives, making him one of the youngest aspirant to contest for the federal house of representatives.

Prince Chukwuemeka Okolie has always had this passion to lead and help most especially the youths and the aged ones. He is the President of Change For Nigerian youths and also a grass rooter in politics, a sociologist, Strategist and an entertainment Specialist.
"At age 9, I said to myself, I want to become a President in the future, i didn't know what got over me, but I guess it was the situations of the country as at that time. At age 15 I ventured into the Entertainment industry while I was still in secondary school. I came out of secondary school, tried different jobs and careers including playing football, talking to people and getting my change for NIGERIAN youth (CNY) project ready", Okolie explained.

At age 19 he came up with the initiative Change For Nigerian Youths, according to him the whole idea was trying to get his fellow youths involved in politics.
He continues;  "Nigeria youths as at that time didn't like the word Politics, because of the ways the Nigerian Politics was practiced. It didn't encourage the youths, So he was trying to get the youths involved by speaking positively to them. I also wrote alot on how the youths can get involved in the role of Leadership and tried to create different avenues which would be used to reach out to them, but at some points my efforts were frustrated by the old politicians but i didn't give up".

As time goes on, Prince Chukwuemeka started meeting people through entertainment and politics and he always tells everyone who cares to listen about the Change for Nigerian Youths and how the youths can get involved in Politics/ role of Leadership in Nigeria.
Some years ago he became more determined to take a higher step regardless of his young age, he also started hearing and took in the fact that he was never too young to run for the election.

In the last election, he helped a friend in Surulere, a very popular figure to win his elections with some great ideas he contributed during his campaign. The candidate was also a youth as at that time and it turned out well.

He is also the southwest youth leader for a presidential candidate.

Last year he really worked on the CNY project, he got an award from NIGERIA ACHIEVERS AWARD... Tagged Nigerian award for excellency in youth leadership. This year, Youth Party got registered by INEC and the "Not too young to Run" bill was passed. Now he has decided to run for the federal house of representative, Surulere constituency because he is a leader. This will be the first elections since after the military regime that youths can contest.
As a leader he has been preaching about youths getting involved in Politics now he needs to make the first step because he also said a leader is someone that KNOWS THE WAY, SHOWS THE WAY AND GOES  THE WAY.

Kenya's Instagram Mafia & Why Brands Should Care

For a long period of time, Instagram has been showing posts in a chronological manner which made the playing field even to all and sundry regardless of the number of following one had. Recently, there was a switch that saw the app prioritize content that users would most likely love to see or engage with.  Consequently, this saw the rise of ‘Kenya’s Instagram Mafia’ ; a game of lies, laziness and a scheme of feigned engagement in attempts to cheat. If you are an influencer and you are doing this, shame! If you are a brand, here is why you have to care!
A NUMBERS GAME.
No one worries about your content anymore, well, as it seems. We always thought content is king but we are apparently wrong. In my little experience from pitching emails showing the intention to work with certain brands, the first response one gets is normally an inquiry on how your numbers are. “How are your numbers? Kindly send us your media kit,” the email reads. Responses that may turn you down normally bear the words. “There was a competitive look-through in the numerous applications and due to your numbers, you unfortunately rank below the ones with great numbers.”
There is an increasingly acute obsession in numbers. Brands have continued to express their desire to know how much social media numbers you have at first glance without looking at content and this is the problem!
HOW ‘THE MAFIA’ OPERATES.
Firstly, nothing prevents one from opening a group of 50 or more loyal people on Whatsapp, that always ‘support’ each other. Whenever you put up a post, these people rush to the post, like and comment on it, “SUPERB! SO BEAUTIFUL! GOOD JOB!WE WANT MORE!” They may also just use emojis which is equally a response. This inflates engagement on their posts greatly!
Secondly, there is something called Instagram pods. Now, Instagram pods are formed by creating group messages of around 10 to 20 users, usually bloggers, influencers and content creators, with the occasional business in there too. Users in the pods are expected to follow one another in the group. Once that’s done, they send over a photo they’ve just posted so that other pod members can like and comment on it and boost engagement.
Such behaviour is on the rise at the moment and it is the reason brands ought to stop their obsession in numbers and use clever criteria to choose who to work with.
The average ‘Instagram mafia’ has a really lovely page that would always appeal to marketing managers.
WHY BRANDS SHOULD CARE!
Brands, you need to stop and start to care!  The said Instagram pods can and do skew results. Working with an Instagrammer or a blogger that is part of a pod means their own numbers are wholly wrong.
The obsession with numbers also skew payments. Agencies or managers evaluate influencers on the size of their audience or engagement. Top influencers who are showing high numbers are commanding high prices, and the brand no longer knows if the engagement is genuine.
FINAL THOUGHT
This ‘mafia’ operates on a variety of fields, from beauty, food, travel, photography, name it! Bloggers and other influencers, you need to come clean! Brands, content is king, not numbers! You really ought to care!
